The Walk Of Atonement Bio

After four full-length releases, Australian progressive post-black metal act Illyria will be releasing their first EP, “The Walk Of Atonement” in 2025. One, whole, 23-minute track sectioned into four parts exploring sin, suffering, repentance and liberation.

Illyria has always challenged themselves to test the boundaries of their underlying post-black metal sound by incorporating extreme genres of metal and their forthcoming release is not changing their vision any time soon.

Continuing from the band’s sonic elements of 2024’s “Wanderlust”, Illyria have incorporated the services of Simone Pietroforte again for mixing and mastering to deliver a hard-hitting sonic assault to listeners. With an expanded orchestration, intricate instrumentation and a refined repertoire of vocals, “The Walk Of Atonement” solidifies the style that Illyria has been endeavouring for this past decade of their existence.

Key songwriter Ilija Stajić states “The Walk Of Atonement is an homage to an experience I had in a fictional world that I was totally immersed in. It is evident throughout our discography that I enjoy writing about video games that I play, the Crusader Kings and Mount & Blade series with its truly amazing modding community had me entranced when composing this EP”.
